This is more about desktop development than enterprise development. With that in mind, I think there's a better chance of people figuring out how to get it done on UWP or with web technologies (perhaps with some help from MS) than there is of MS improving support of WPF.

Azure is where it's at now for Microsoft, and WPF/desktop apps don't run on Azure.



The client code could run in a browser or in a desktop application.

The juicy backend bits could run just fine in Azure.
