Everything moves slower than you're used to, probably by a tremendous amount. You don't have to have those expectations for yourself, and you shouldn't have them for the people around you.

Politics are the most important thing with respect to large groups of people. Your ideas will matter less than who you are and the clout you carry. Always be paying attention to who is asking for things and why they might be asking those things. At bigger companies, people's personal agendas may trump company agendas, and you may have to pick and choose which projects are worth taking (after understanding the who and the why).
