You can also go with VP9 which is pretty much on par with HEVC

I'm doing this with Tesla's on the road already. When I see one i'm extra-cautious.

This company is so shaddy around all the driving assistance and FSD issues that i have 0 trust and will not until it is thoroughly investigated. They are quite behind other manufacturers on simple stuff like line assistance and automated breaking already, they are going out of their way to make every reported incident sounding that others are to blame, it just looks bad from end to end.

Rushing those robotaxis is just trying to hide the fact that they are quite behind the competition on all those fronts.

On my last road trip i saw a Tesla go from 75 to 60 to 110 in the span of about 20 seconds then the driver pulled over and stopped and got out. No idea what the fuck happened there but I'm certainly giving them all a wide berth from now on. This was wide open road with almost no other other traffic in broad daylight.

"Honey, don't spook 'em!" (A thought that went through my head when the wife and I were recently driving in the Bay Area surrounded by Teslas, ha ha.)

It's saying that there could be a link and a link has been found on mice. That and the fact that the human body is not supposed to be running partially on plastic should trigger some actions.

Exactly the same argument could be (and unfortunately, has been) made about vaccines. For all we know, microplastics could be making us healthier. I don't believe that's true, and I'm avoiding plastic where I can, but the fact that we have it doesn't necessarily mean it's bad.

Not really. With vaccines you can have controlled groups (vaccinated or not) and study the benefits versus risks. This is done before any vaccine is introduced to the public, any vaccine showing not enough benefits versus risks is discarded.

We do not have this luxuary with plastic. Controlled groups are not possible, asking that risks inherent to micro-plastics in human body are proven is therefore impossible.

To compare back to vaccines, it would be like vaccinating very single human, with a vaccine which is not tested and which purpose is unknown. Then asking someone to scientifically prove that this vaccine causes health problems as a condition to stop systematically vaccinating every single human.

This is just about people wanting to be seen as strong men in their own country and attacking citizen from other countries they know cannot retaliate.

Cartels will be fine though, do not worry. USA credibility, less and less.

Yes, but the question was "why does the world stand by and let this happen?" and I was answering that.

I realise my comment is not super clear. I meant that the world seems to stand by because nobody is in position of escalating against the US.

Those operations have nothing to do with cartels and everybody knows that. Nobody knows if those boats are remotely linked to cartels, there's reason to doubt that the US army even does. Cartels are irrelevant here and the murder of random people is not why the world stands by and let this happen.

LibreOffice Calc works well and does the job for what most people needs, I don't see any issue recommending it.

Why would he have a treatment of favor? Almost every person convicted in his situation has a an execution provisoire, there's no special treatment here. Same for lepen.

Let's put things straight, both of them are criminals, giving them a treatment of favor would be insane.

And to show how morally corrupted they are, both of them have been really loud about a no tolerance justice system. I guess that speaks for itself.

My understanding with Le Pen is that she used funds that were earmarked for he EU parliament staff to pay the salary of someone on her regular staff. I find it hard to believe that similar errors weren’t made by people the French establishment simply like more than her. Calling her a morally corrupt criminal for that is pretty obviously political, and if its political, it should be decided by a vote (which she would win)

> I find it hard to believe that similar errors

When you pay your father a cook and a bodyguard this way, this isn't really appropriate to call that “an error”.

> the French establishment simply like more than her

Bayrou (who was prime minister a month ago) is also charged with similar things.

And Le Pen is pretty liked by the French establishment actually …

She didn't simply used EU money to pay her party staff, she was the head of a stealing EU money system while also saying that EU costs to much to France. Not only is she a morally corrupt criminal but also a corrupter. It was not a mistake she made, she was not alone and all convicted members of her party were fully aware they were committing a massive fraud.

Saying that is was an error and the trial was political, is plain disinformation.

I got a FP4, will definitely buy again.

I believe that an atmosphere compatible with human life is a bit more useful than internet by satelite. The fact that the impact of re-entry of satelites is absolute insane. Any good engineering company would study the whole impact of scaling up before doing so. The fact that spacex didn't do that is really worrying and regulation should come to stop what they are doing asap until the impact is better understood. Some more serious engineers at Japan aerospace are studying wooden satelite which is a quite approach to the problem.

I am not aware of threats to the atmosphere from the entry at a 100kg/day scale. And nobody is. At this point risks are hypothetical to the ozone or other layers.

if the aersols do cause any problems we're done for quite a while as they do not seem to come down. As I understand it the amount of aerosol will be quite significant in this layer of athmosphere. https://csl.noaa.gov/news/2025/427_0428.html

I'm aware of the threats to the atmosphere from repeated and frequent rocket launches.

> I'm aware of the threats to the atmosphere from repeated and frequent rocket launches

Educate us on how methalox rockets are a significant environmental concern?

The opppsite would be more logical. Selling data should be opt-in, in the absence of explicit consent no company should be able to sell data.

In case we agree on selling our data we should be able to set our price and get paid for sell, use and resale of data. It's crazy that those parasite companies get that for free.

But why would anyone opt-in to that? You could do what some site are doing put up a "Either pay us or opt-in to cookies and tracking". The problem is I don't think people fully understand how much tracking we're talking about.

Right now a Danish radio station is running a number of news stories about being able to track people who work for military intelligence or as police officers and prison guards. They do this using a free sample a data broker provided. Everyone act surprised when the journalists are able to show up at the home address of military personal or prison guards who have their home address protected/secret.

I don't think there's a safe way to opt-in to selling your data, because most people cannot comprehend how much data, what type or the ramifications.

> But why would anyone opt-in to that?

The answer is there:

>> In case we agree on selling our data we should be able to set our price and get paid for sell, use and resale of data.

> But why would anyone opt-in to that?

100% this. Nobody wants to be tracked, it is dystopian, it is dangerous.

> I don't think there's a safe way to opt-in to selling your data

Exactly.

Chima is also the country that produces a big chunk of what western countries consumes. The emissions from China are also our emissions.
