We do have a linux build! (the link is at the bottom of the download page). Some systems are a bit finicky so we give more options on setting it up.

I gave it a go. Was having issues installing the AppImage, which is my preferred method, but extracting the .tar.gz (or the .deb) eventually worked.

Yeah this kind of setup is indefinitely scaleable, but not searchable without out a meta db/index keeping track of all the nodes.

You're encountering this error if the document uploaded is encrypted. I previously supported it, but ran into issues re-encrypting the PDF when you download. I'll fix this soon so it is supported properly. In the mean time I'll handle encrypted documents more gracefully. Thanks for pointing the error out
