It's not your customers' fault that your business model is not viable, and guilting people into turning off AdBlock is manipulative and detrimental to overall human productivity.
Asking people to watch ads is simply a bad trade off, in the same way that burning trash to save on fuel is bad -- to save 1$ in fuel costs, environmental damage in the thousands is caused. To make 1$ from ads, many multiples of damage in lost productivity and bad product proliferation are caused.
Ad based businesses are as bad as door to door life insurance scammers, multi level scammers, etc.
In short, find a job that doesn't require damaging other people.
/Forgot to mention, watching ads without buying the advertised product simply decreases ad yield over time and therefore it even wastes productivity for 0 return in the long run./
Do you have the Apple silicon version? The brew package is messed up somehow IIRC a the up to date version for Apple silicon doesn't have the graphical shortcuts (I don't remember what brew calls these), but the one that does is for the Intel CPUs.
It's makes so the frame pacing fits the display refresh rate, making viewing a lot more pleasant and smoother. Eg.: Your Screen is 60hz, but the video is 59.97hz, then there will be a dropped frame. `--video-sync=display-resample` speeds the video up by a tiny percentage to make every display refresh match a new video frame. The correction factor is recalculated every frame and can be viewed by pressing I. This makes way more difference that one would imagine and makes 60hz gameplay look hyper smooth, even though not much changed. Frame pacing really matters. Applies to very closely matching framerates or multiples of (eg. 60hz screen with 29.97hz video), not to bigger differences like 50hz vs 60hz.
Drawback: MPV will be forced to run at screen V-Sync, draining battery faster. If your screen is 60hz, but the video is 29.97hz, MPV will re-draw the screen at 60hz, instead of just 29.97hz, doubling GPU load.
If your distro has outdated packages, that's a problem with your distro.
You can always just open files with a CLI if you want to see the error messages.
What do you mean can't drag and drop on a window? That's literally how you add subtitles or open a file if you opened mpv from the shortcut, rather than by opening a file.
You can play it with mpv, it depends on the hardware/drivers. It worked fine on a random Ryzen Lenovo laptop with Linux even though MacOS version of mpv couldn't play it correctly on M2 (even though Apple claims that M2 is compatible with the format).
It depends on what format/decoder support went into your particular build of mpv. It offloads almost all of its capabilities onto ffmpeg and its supporting libraries, which in turn won't necessarily be built with exactly everything enabled.
Can't blame people for not using shelters if you make them feel like a prison.
Would you use a shelter where you can't control light switches, get woken up by a siren, get your stuff stolen, probably have to share showers and kitchen with junkies, if you are even allowed to cook your own food?
People really do love to take imperfect solutions to tractable problems and deceptively expand them into something intractable so they can continue to sit on their hands.
"How can I tie real solvable issues to some kind of thought stopping meme", it's a fun game politicians and and other disingenuous people play.
Every pundit buzzword you've injected is orthogonal to the point and the issue. You can personally pursue those plans if you want, they have nothing to do with what I am discussing.
Worse, everything you've raised is irrelevant to all the little american kids getting screwed right now.
But better America and Americans suffer and decline than having measurable but marginally imperfect solutions right? Perfection or nothing right? Iteration, measurement and incremental improvement isn't real so we shouldn't try? Defeatist attitudes didn't make this country.
Both of those things are in fact tractable, and many other countries manage to keep track of who's supposed to be in them just fine. It's telling that you think something that should be a non issue is a thought stopping meme.
