Why do none of these have larger displays? I imagine it's annoying to type without the ability to at least skim over the last page of content? Are larger monochrome displays just harder to procure?
This is already relatively large for this type of display. There is no market for these types of screens at a larger size. (They are mostly used in products that are not connected to a computer such as a controller panel for a factory, or mechanical device.)
I think they aimed for a very portable format. I think it's a bit took much especially considering that you will be already carrying a keyboard anyway.
How do you power it for extended sessions? Is it constantly connected to power - using wifi/airlink between it and your Mac? Or do you use the link cable?

Simulation is a really useful tool for practice! I’m pretty sure this Hang Gliding sim uses Cesium for its environment: https://freeflightexperience.com/
I know people who will practice flying at unfamiliar sites on it first - so that they’re better prepared when they get to the real thing.
I was hoping for something that's been manufactured more recently than 5 years ago, but I do wish that type of device had caught on better than it did.
I'd find an activity that you enjoy (and as other people have suggested) find folks to do it with through meetup etc.
The "enjoy" part was pretty key for me - as I feel like it's really hard not to be my best self when I'm having fun and more focused on the activity than making a good impression. I also tend to do well at things I enjoy, and that gives a helpful little self-esteem boost.
