Hi, I am not affiliated with the OP, but I would like to understand what your concerns are in the context of data security and privacy.
Can you please also explain what is expected of AI companies in this aspect, especially for B2B applications?
This is both inspirational and aspirational!
Can the more knowledgeable members of the forum guide on how to find and validate such idea and start with the execution?
Finally, someone else who feels the same pain as I do.
Believe me you, I keep subscriptions of both Apple Music and Spotify. Apple Music for the better in general catalog and better syncing, Spotify for better discovery.
I plan on creating a tool that would allow me to download all the songs in my library so that I don't lose on them when Spotify or AM decide to remove it from their catalog.
Apple Music, at least, shows the track details but greys it out. Spotify simply shows an empty entry, which frustrates me even more.
There’s an app called song shift that works 90% well. It’ll transfer the music over from one service to another. Also you can export Apple songs to CSV using desktop iTunes
That's solving a different problem. If you have a track that is not on any service, Apple Music will still accept the song file being added to your library and sync it for you. Spotify will not as it does not do cloud file sync.
Can the smart folks on HN point out to a good resource or a collection of resource for a software engineer to get up to speed with LLMs and Gen AI concepts, and understand basic deployments and use cases?
Can the folks on HN guide me on how to learn and master linear programming and create a consulting career out of it?
I've been exposed to linear programming slightly at work and I find this to be powerful technique to solve a lot of problems that are currently written with generic software programming with better results. I feel there is good opportunity to create a consulting career/business out of it, though having the knowledge and expertise is necessary and there aren't lot of good resources on the internet to learn.
There's a lot of low hanging fruit out there in the world of decisions that get made manually today. If you can do a globally optimal MIP solver, cool, I guess. But often you don't have time to run it, and an immediately calculated and configurable greedy solution is good too. Find a domain space with one archetypal decision that gets solved by many different companies on repeat and just solve that one problem.
The ones that already have software answers are the hard sells.
LP or ILP? There is a significant difference since for non-discrete problem Linear Programming is shockingly efficient and in no way can be considered a brute force technique.
edit: What would be a technique you consider non-brute force in discrete problems?
I got introduced to pip and virtualenv when I started coding in python in 2013-14.
Except for the system/3rd party python and python2/python3 confusion a couple of times, I've been able to set up many projects at multiple companies that quite a few people have worked on over the years without any problem just using pip and virtualenv.
Somehow every time I searched about a better way of doing it, the new tools looked more confusing that the existing one. And since the existing ones keep working very well, I haven't had any incentive to move to any other tool that does even more magic under the wraps, in the name of making things simpler, because when the required conditions aren't met, these tools simply tend to give up.
So I just setup the virtualenv with the appropriate python version and then use pip to install python dependancies. Projects have varied from webservers to computer vision and forecasting. And have not faced any issue till date.
While all this and most other advises are applicable to career, money, and tangible things, what does one do when unable to make a decision in intangible things like relationships and love life?
Asking because stuck in a situation where not sure what choice is better for me, for the other person and there is nothing that's helping me decide.
Some need networking, backups, office it upgrades, some appointment reminder type apps, some automated notifications of important email. You just never know till you ask.
