I knew that ~/Applications exists, but never really used it until I started at my new job where I didn’t have admin permissions by default. Now I’ve configured Homebrew to install casks into ~/Applications and it works for almost all applications.
Great idea! One other thing that annoys me is the inability to trim workouts, mostly walking workouts which I forgot to stop. Even when the Apple Watch asks you if you want to end the workout, it doesn’t cut off the end where nothing happened anymore. It should be possible to do this (semi-)automatically using the heart rate and movement data.
That's a good problem to solve. Another pet peeve of mine is the inability to modify different streams of fitness data in a single workout. If I record workout on the watch, but use a different device just for heart rate, there's no good way to replace the watch recorded HR data with this other device's HR data.
Yes please. My new job just provided me with a new phone, but all the models are just too big. I guess I’ll get used to it, but I’d rather have the current features in a Mini body.
I'd be happy with a new mini even every third generation. My 12 mini is still great except for the battery life (even after getting a new battery less than a year ago).
How do you like biking 3 hours a day? I'm starting a new job next year that requires me to be at the office most days. It's 40-50 minutes each way by bus or about an hour (if you're fast or with an e-bike) by bicycle, and I'm already considering getting an e-bike for the summer months for this. (It would be only 20-25 minutes by car, but I'm not willing to commute daily by car I think. I also just don't want to own a car in the first place.)
I guess Europe isn't nearly as bad as the US. My portfolio (and probably my actual skills) are nowhere close to what some of those in the comments that can't find a job are offering, but I was able to secure a job in Trondheim, Norway (where I'm about to move in January) with a single application and interview. I assume there weren't too many people in the Trondheim area who were willing to work at an office and who already know Vue.js pretty well.
Europe is probably easier to get hired, but if you are a senior making some medium+ salary, it's also easier to get skipped in favor of cheaper candidates.
I've been using my Suri toothbrush for about 2 1/2 years I think (I had one on preorder before it came out). It's nice, compact, brushes well (according to my recent dentist visit), great battery life (usually over a month of twice per day brushing), and great USB-C charging case (that's the best part IMO).
What I don't like:
- Automatically turns off after 4x 30 seconds - I usually need a little more time than that.
- Proprietary replacements heads - I'm worried that they'll go out of business and I won't be able to get replacement heads anymore. (I could buy them in bulk now, but what if the toothbrush itself breaks and I can't get a new one?)

$70 is incredibly cheap for photography software. It's cheaper than Capture NX was twenty years ago, without accounting for inflation. I'm sad that they undervalued it at first, but at least they corrected course later on.
