it's not going to "cost" billions. those are billions they were not entitled to in the first place

that’s some mental gymnastics. so newspapers are free to publish opinions, it is in their business interest………………(but only if the opinion is the one I want otherwise it is not good business)

> so newspapers are free to publish opinions

That's a strange way of putting it. Newspapers are free to publish anything, by the first amendment to the Constitution.

> but only if the opinion is the one I want otherwise it is not good business

I didn't say that. I said that people want to read opinions. Sometimes they enjoy reading opinions that they disagree with, and arguing with those opinions.

just the tip of the iceberg. if you think about it, maybe the kernel that runs everything in the world shouldn't be controlled by a single edgy dude.

bad deal for Mauritius. they didn’t gain any sovereignty, they lost some. why? because now the foreign military base is officially on Maritius soil. so US now has a base in Mauritius just like they have in Japan and other places and those places can’t do anything about it

misleading article, pretending this is some kind of scientific evidence of fraud without mentioning other possible explanations.

the most likely and obvious explanation is that there was a mistake in the final report not in the raw data. they just rounded the percentages first and gave them to someone who then made the report with the number of votes based on that.

you can’t really distinguish a mistake from fraud in this case. and then they will fix the mistake and people will say “aha we caught them and now they try to hide it”

need to play bee gees on windows media player

spoiler: crowdstrike is used by companies running on mac and linux as well

when people say AI will cure cancer they mean AI will find some novel idea that no-one tought about. the article is more about how AI will fail at medical practice.

Or merely that it'll be used to accelerate what we can already do to the point that it's revolutionary. Other computer advances have done the same, like the ability to finally create Folding@Home at a level that it'd matter.

It's easy to say "X will do Y" when X is a force multiplier for things we already do.

The fact that it could also come up with new ideas is a bonus on top of that, making it even easier to say.

hard to understand what exactly they are investing in. just building a data center to suck up the green energy is not such a great deal for germany

it's kind of obvious. the closer we are to a world war, the better US will do because it's the safest place to invest. who is going to invest in china when US is pumping weapons into taiwan. seems more or less the same blueprint as with ukraine. if war starts, your investment in china is worth 0.
