As for performance vs heat, well, you'd expect even better results from the chip consuming much less power. How does that 100W chip perform with a phone-miniaturized heat sink? Or the power-sipping chip with a double-tower fan cooler?
Agreed, I think you make different design decisions- a mobile CPU is not just an underclocked desktop CPU. Apple also introduced a new CPU, not just put a A14 inside.
I'm looking forward to benchmarks and seeing how well the new machines work - compiling speed, lightroom, responsiveness, how well Chrome works with max 16GB RAM :).
