Fingerprinting (wiki.mozilla.org)

Mods: please add (2010). I read the article for some while until realizing it didn't make any sense in this time and age (with all the references to Java Applets, Flash and QuickTime etc.)

Some of this content is pretty out of date. Looks like the last edit was made in 2016, but most of the content was written in 2010. History: https://wiki.mozilla.org/index.php?title=Fingerprinting&acti...

The numerous references to Flash really give that away. Though it's an interesting snapshot in time. You can see how many fingerprinting problems Flash/Java created.

I'm not even sure for what audience this article is written, nor what point it is making?

Its a reference article from a decade ago discussing a paper on fingerprinting that had been published. I suspect it was probably primarily for internal consumption. I'm not sure why you would think its supposed to make a point.

Ah ok. I missed the panopticlick reference and assumed it was about "cover your tracks" (https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2020/11/introducing-cover-your...) due to the proximity of that release
