For me, this is almost like one of those trolley problems, when it comes to passing judgement.
I think what the US was doing was wrong (I am a US citizen). I think that kind of stuff should be made transparent. And it frustrates me that the situation became that way and that he (felt he) had to take those steps to redress it.
On the flip, Russia just seems to keep "leveling up" in being a really bad bit of action. And I like that far less. And yet now they are bedfellows.
In reality, they're independent things, but my brain with its "halo effect" wants to "co judge" these things one way or the other. I wish Switzerland or some place like that had granted him asylum.
