Corpus Christi sold its water to Exxon and is losing its big bet on desalination (insideclimatenews.org)

I would love to see an eminent domain to take the water back from a corporate interest, in the public interest. Dealing with feckless politicians has consequences for the public. Corporate interests can share in that.

Shale oil extraction, which Exxon is planning there, is an environmental disaster shitshow.

So, blocking desalination prevents diverting the civil freshwater supply to that project, a pure good.

It would be strictly better to outlaw shale oil extraction, but that choice is not available.

Texans grow up hearing the story of Esau selling his birthright to Jacob for a bowl of stew, think that Esau was the one worth emulating…

Link to the letter 'signing over' the water: https://drive.google.com/file/d/13FYYsvgvbu7-zMfImnNFYPKs42Q...

It seems remarkably vague given the implications.

I'm surprised they didn't agree to a more concrete proposal to delineate exactly how much water can be used per annum.

To avoid any future disputes, at the very least.

Was it theirs to sell
