Musk's attempt to monetize Twitter has failed (boingboing.net)

Good. Social media without a metric ton of ads isn't meant to be monetized. Not everything that's popular in the digital world can be a successful business.

As an aside, I think Musk is a pompous asshole who needs to be reminded that not everything he touches turns to gold. Good for him for wasting 44 billion dollars. I wish I could drop 44 billion dollars on a vanity project like he did.

Subtle reminder: he signed the 44B offer while trying to play chicken with the board and extort them into changing Twitter in ways he wanted, but without intending to actually buy it. He later tried to repeatedly get out of the deal, but Twitter had done their homework, so he was forced into it, realizing he'd be out at least a dozen billion for failing to go through (not just the $1B fee everyone is talking about).

The scammer got scammed.
