All of this RTO discussion comes from the idea that being in the office is the standard that must be "returned" to. Another perspective is that WFH is a paradigm shift and is now the objective standard. From that perspective: if you are asking a worker to shift from my new standard, you had better be offering enough to make up for the huge costs that working in the office incurs. The costs are so high that not many employers could really justify paying what it is worth to the worker.
Maybe it is time for employers to pony up or STFU.
