The "unrealistic" ambitions appear to be "We wanted content creators to create content for us for free but no one wanted to do that" and they started paying creators to do it instead. So they aren't making money hand over fist like they hoped.
It does show some of the business logic behind them focusing on Fortnite vs Fortnite Save The World, since a social environment also means social sales for things like skins and cosmetics. That's obviously far easier to enshitify than a PVE game, so that's what they focused on.
