Why does it seem like they frame this setting as a bad thing? I would like to believe that most people just want to play the game, and not spend the first several hours with the game tweaking and tuning settings to make the game playable.
With Apple’s limited line of hardware they can have optimal settings for every config. This seems like a great thing. Most normal people aren’t pixel peeping.
The Nintendo Switch is the 3rd best selling console of all time, despite having worst graphics and frame rates than its competitors. The masses don’t prioritize the same things as hardware and game reviewers.
